Main Floor Renovation

So many of you have asked - here are the before and after pics of our main floor remodel. We started with untouched 1985 purity, and ended up with an opened-up, lighter, brighter version that we are enjoying very much.

Some highlights - knocked down two walls, and rebuilt one of them in a different spot, allowing for a bigger, brand new kitchen with island, a walk-in pantry, and a computer nook area. Once we started the project, we decided to tear out the old fireplace and replace it. That soon turned into gorgeous built-ins and surround sound. The whole area got new hardwood floors, a couple new windows, and a new back door. We added tons of recessed lights, where no lights had existed before.

The project took almost 8 weeks to be 95 percent done, and we are now at 12 weeks just about to nail up the last bit of trim and seal the new tile work. Soon to come are more replacement windows in the living room and maybe a new front door. Someday, hopefully soon, I'll get around to designing a computer desk area/cupboards for our empty nook.
